The organic hotel Eggensberger is located in one of the sunniest, most beautiful parts of the Allgäu:  at the edge of Hopfen am See – surrounded by woods and mountain meadows. From here you can see all the way across the Hopfensee Lake to the whole panorama of the Bavarian, Allgäu and Tyrolean Alps and the world-famous royal castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. 

The waterside promenade in the Kneipp and health resort Hopfen am See is often called "Allgäu's Riviera" because of its special, sunny location on the southern side of the mountain and the ensuing mild climate. There is so much to see and do that makes it worth a visit: the romantic parish church St. Peter and Paul with its thousand-year-old frescoes, die beautifully located fortress ruins above the town with a wonderful panorama view, the forest nature trail that brings you there and much more. 

On top of that, the Hopfensee Lake invites you to enjoy relaxing hours along the waterside promenade: The flat gravel path is especially suitable for walking, jogging, strolling or biking. 

A holiday town for every season

In spring, nature awakes from its hibernation and everything radiates green. It is the most beautiful time for a walk by the lake and for discovering the plants and herbs. Take a herb excursion with the trained Allgäu herb guide Rosemarie Eggensberger and learn about the healing powers of wild plants in the meadows and fields or how to use the herb garden for your health. .

In summer, the new Kneipp area along the side of the lake with a swimming Kneipp island, herb and aroma garden, and benches with engraved thoughts from Pastor Kneipp is a place to relax and refresh. Listen to various musical groups at the music pavilion and enjoy the unique sea backdrop while you linger. Swimming friends will find an undisturbed spot at the beach – and lots of the docks lead you to the refreshing water of the natural lake.

Autumn is the time of year to collect golden rays of sun and impressions of the colourful woods and the mirror-like lakes. In winter the crisp air, winter sun and cleared hiking paths tempt you out of doors. When the lake is covered with ice, your host, Andreas Eggensberger, invites you to go curling – winter fun for everybody!
