On hot days the Alpine lakes tempt you to jump into the cool water. Cross the Forggensee Lake with the MS "Füssen" and enjoy the heavenly view of the royal castles, Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. The Hopfensee Lake

The Hopfensee is a so-called dead ice lake which was formed in the Ice Age by the deepening of Lech glacier tongues. It has a surface area of approx. 2 km², at some points it reaches a depth of 10m. With a temperature of 20-25°C it is one of the warmest Bavarian foothills lakes. The slightly marshy water and the lightly sloped banks make the Hopfensee to an ideal swimming lake. Boat rental, stand-up paddling, surf and sailing school, fishing.

The Forggensee
With a surface area of 15.2 km² it is one of Bavaria's largest lakes and the largest reservoir in Germany. From June 1 to October 15 the Forggensee boat line offers rides with an unmatched view of the Allgäu Alps and the Neuschwanstein Castle. Sailing school and Kanu-Kini.

The Weissensee
With a length of 2.4 km and a width of 600 m, the Weissensee invites you to walk around it. This charming circular trail takes you through a large rock, called the "Törle" or little gate. In the south there is a hiking path through the woods to the Alatsee Lake and over the Saloberalpe to the Zirmgrat ridge. The swimming area and playground are the attractions along the northern bank.

The Faulensee
A secluded marsh pond – surrounded by untouched nature. It offers a very small bathing lawn and swimming island fun for the whole family. Refreshments can be bought from Raini's Faulenseehütte, the lodge at the lake.

The Schwansee
With a magnificent backdrop, located right in the middle of Hohenschwangau's former castle park at the foot of the Alpines, away from streets and traffic. The meadows, marshes and lawns surrounding the lake are the perfect habitat for rare plants like gentian, the bird's eye primrose or various species of wild orchids. The area has been a nature reserve since 1956.

The Alpsee
King Ludwig II.'s favourite swimming lake is considered one of the cleanest, but also one of the coldest in Germany. It is located in the midst of a wooded landscape directly at the foot of the Säuling mountain and in the direct vicinity of the royal castles. A romantic circular trail leads partly along the banks, partly above the lake (altitude difference 50m, duration 1.5 hours, suitable for children) and offers a fantastic view of the lake and the royal castles.
Distance: approx. 8.5 km + 1.5 km on foot /or bike to the beach
The Alatsee
This unusual, beautiful mountain lake with its crystal clear water is close to the Austrian border on the Salober mountain ridge and is the ideal hiking and swimming destination for every nature lover. The sulfur layer, located at a depth of 8-15 m, makes this lake unique. Well-known from the Allgäu mystery story "Seegrund".
